The Davis Family Ornament -Off

| | Comments (1)

I'm finally getting around to more Christmas stuff like I promised earlier. Everybody's got some of those cute little ornaments that were made by 3rd graders back in the day and let's face it. Some are just better than others. That doesn't mean they're loved any more, but it's always been a point of pride that MY home-made picture ornament was the best looking one on Bill and Bernie's tree. Now that I have my own tree, I have some competition, though. The one on the left was made by Chris and the one on the right was made by me. I'm not going to be so bold as to say that mine wins the Ornament-Off, but I will say this. I made mine at age 8. Christina made hers at age 27. Doesn't quite seem fair to me.

The Great Baby Escape

I was at the computer trying to get some work done for the EMS Early Childhood PTA when I heard the front screen door open. Now, Noah has a habit of opening it and closing it but never going through it. I noticed the opening noise and then the closing noise and then another opening and closing, open, close, open ... Where's the close?

I got up from the desk and ran to the door only to see it closing with Noah looking at me from the wrong side of the glass. No worries on Hannah. She was right where she usually is ... behind Noah. They were both so proud.

New rule in the Davis home: KEEP THE DOORS LOCKED AT ALL TIMES!

I Lubs Me Some Christmas Carols

We put up the tree today. There will be more posts about that in the coming days. I got a real cute little song of Myra's on video today. I just thought I'd share. She loves singing it. I'm sure she'll just get better and better at it.

SuperMyra!

I was digging around on the computer and I ran across some pics from about a year and a half ago. This one really grabbed my eye. She looks so cool and confident.

He's got a new trick!

| | Comments (0)

Noah surprised us all tonight by adding a new word to his vocabulary. He already knows Dada, Mama, bye-bye, ball, and choo. Now he can also say "Myra." He started out parroting us after a slice of pie. He began with "My-buh" and slowly refined it to "My-wuh." The best part was showing Myra his new trick. When she realized what he was saying, she got the sweetest look of pride on her face and then gave her Mommy a big hug. It melted my heart to watch it. I even felt a little misty-eyed.

Return of the Pokies

Today, while driving home from school, I started to sing along with the radio to an old Matthew Sweet song. Myra wanted to know where I learned this new song. I told her I learned it at college. "Where's that?" she asked. I told her it was in Stillwater, at OSU. "Oh," she replied, "the big building with the Pokie on it."

Are You Ready for Some Cheese?

So Chris took some cute pictures of Noah playing on the slide this morning. I wanted to post them, but they just didn't tell the story well enough the way they were. They needed some oomph. So, 5 minutes of Flash goodness later, I had a very cheesey little movie of the slider. Enjoy!

Lyin' Ain't Easy

Chris and Myra were baking some surprise cookies for us in the kitchen while Noah and I played "Human Shape Sorter" in the living room. I could hear Myra excitedly talking about keeping the surprise. She then strolls into the living room with a big ball of cookie dough in her mouth. "Whatcha eatin?" I asked. She froze. Thinking quickly she replied, "A puzzle." I couldn't contain my laughter.

I Want To Be A SuperModel

I let Myra wear make-up for Halloween and ever since then, she's been wanting it all the time (I've created a monster). This weekend we bought her a Disney Princess Lip Gloss set. I then proceeded to spoil her by letting her have some old eye shadow and mascara (which I thought was emply). After letting her "put on her face" Sunday morning in the car while heading out for breakfast, Josh and I decided that it was time to cut back. I had to take her into the restroom to try to wash some of the make-up off. Poor girl looked like she had been beat! For now, we'll let wearing make-up be for dress-up playtime only.

When Brothers Attack Back

It's been a while but back in March we showed you just how rough Myra can be with Noah (When Sisters Attack). Well, it's now his turn. Go get her Brother!

Elmo visited us this afternoon and he made the mistake of doing the Chicken Dance over a month after JFest. Noah set him straight. Check out the video of it by clicking on the picture.

Walking In Daddy's Shoes

| | Comments (1)

What parent doesn't dream of the day when instead of holding their child they can hold thier child's hand? For us, that dream is now a reality! We bought Noah his first pair of walking shoes and they look a lot like Daddy's. So far, Noah's loving the idea of being able to walk all by himself some place other than just inside the house. Our arms and back are pretty excited too.

That's a lot of shoe to fill!

Maybe it's not as much as we thought.

That's Daddy alright.

A Spook-tacular Anniversary!

What do you get when you mix thoughts from Mommy and Daddy, recipes, pictures and a few hairy videos? THESQUATCH.COM! One year ago, Josh created this web log (blog) as a place for us to "share our parenting experiences with our family and friends" and "to have a little journal of what it was like when Myra and Noah were just little whipper-snappers." Looking back with a tear in my eye ... Thanks Josh. This was a great idea.

To celebrate this monumental occasion, we went trick-or-treating! The Gode Group was kind enough to "loan" us their neighborhood for the evening. (Thanks!) As you can tell by the following pictures, everyone had a ghoul time (HAHA).

Trick-AND-Treat? The trick is to get past these two before getting the treat.

And what Halloween would be complete without pumpkins?

(Myra decorated the one on the right all by herself! She then helped Noah with his pumpkin's hair.)

Here's to a great year. May many more follow.
