Scooteriffic

We finally got some nice weather so I decided to take the scooter out. It's been in the shop for like...ever and I haven't been able to ride it because of the weather. Chris took a snapshot of me burning up the road. As you can see, I STILL have the dealer tag on it!

Quiz: Are You A Good Mother?

| | Comments (0)

Question: Your two year old is sitting on his Hummer and rocking back and forth IN the Lazy Boy. He could easily roll off and land face first on the solid wood coffee table. Quick .... What do you do?

Answer: You run and get the camera, of course!

Call Me Mr. Dumb-Panties

| | Comments (0)

Myra was telling us all about the things she learned in Scummy School today and I teasing her. I told her (in a slightly condescending tone), "Aren't you Mrs. Smarty Pants?"

"Aren't you Mr. Dumb-Panties?" she shot back.

I was speechless. Touche' little girl.

A Look in the Davis Film Vault

I came across some Myra DVD's cleaning the office the other day and they were soooo sweet. I just had to post them so you guys could see them, too. Most of you guys have already seen the videos that we'll be putting up over the next few weeks, but we hope you guys enjoy reminiscing as much as we did. Here is the first reel pulled from the Vault. It's Myra's 3rd birthday video and it's still one of my favorite pieces of video that I've ever made:

(2) Perfect Attendance Certificate for the second six weeks
(3) Perfect Attendance Certificate for the third six weeks
(4) Excellence in Citizenship Certificate for the first half of the year
and
(5) Excellent Student Pencil for just being Myra.

That's our girl!

A Snow Angel Where?!?!

Chris already posted some pics of our unexpected snow day. I thought I'd chime in with this sweet video of Myra making a snow angel....in the middle of the STREET!

What A Bunch Of Flakes!

Finally ... it's the Texas group's turn to take a day off due to weather! We've been having so much fun with our half inch of frozen flaky white goodness. However, like any good Texas snow, it's melting already. Oh well ... We'll take it!

She says the cutest things!

It's always fun to listen to the things kids say. Their take on the world is always a bit different from our own. Myra has really been spitting out some gems lately. Yesterday, there was ice buildup on our car's antenna. That's actually pretty unusual for us so she was mesmerized by it. I watched her crack the ice and then eat it for a while before she noticed me watching her. She saw me and excitedly proclaimed, "There's ice on the antenna! That's soooo cool. Now we can listen to FREEZING music!" Thank God she didn't mean having to listen to people like Ice Tee, Ice Cube, and Vanilla Ice.

Last Sunday was our first week at our new church. I think we like it there. I know Myra LOVES it there. Last week was their Epiphany pagent so they had no proper Sunday school. She didn't care. It was great fun for her to play in their education center while we attended the service. Apparently, they started educating her on the Bible a little. She was full of questions. After church she was ready to write a letter to Jesus. It read: "Dear Jesus. I'm sorry you died. Love, Myra"

This Sunday, it was icy so AGAIN they didn't have Sunday School (or Scummy School as she used to call it). She still loved hanging out with the few kids that did make it to church. She came in to join us during the service and pulled out a pencil and a little piece of paper. She began drawing her cute little stick figures. I asked her what she was drawing and she said she was drawing God. I asked who the others in the picture were. She told me, "I'm gonna draw God a wife. He needs a wife!"

Advice To The Bride

| | Comments (0)

Today it is very cold, wet and windy outside. Myra decided that since we're not going anywhere, we should have "creative time". She, of course. would be the instructor. So we gathered up some colorful paper and letter stickers. Now all we needed was a picture to place on our project. Myra wanted one of her baby pictures so I pulled a couple photo boxes down from out of the closet. While digging through all the incredibly cute photos of one of the most beautiful baby girls in the whole wide world, I came across some index cards.

These index cards held advice given to a soon-to-be bride (me) by the wonderful ladies at Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church during a bridal shower. I thought it might be fun to share some of that advice here from "The Shoebox" ...

You have the serious....
- You both have to give 100%. It's not 50/50; it's 100/100. (Roberta)
- Passion will come and go in your life, but always be each others best friend.
- Enjoy and LOVE each other. (Shawn)

You have the funny...
- If you want to eat out, say "I was thinking we could have chicken pot pie tonight for dinner."
- Never tell embarrassing things about your husband if he can hear or find out.
- Don't take anything or everything your in-laws say or do too seriously. Also, don't let our sheer numbers overwhelm you. (Bernadette)

And then you have the ever popular ...
- Never go to bed angry. Kiss and make up. (Jacque)
- The toilet seat belongs DOWN. (DooDoo)

Thank you, everyone, for the advice!

Noah's Happy Hair Salon

After seeing Auntie Chris' new hair, Hannah decided that she needed to do something with hers. Who can she turn to with such magical hands to give her the beautiful hair she's searching for?

Obviously, NOT Noah.

Mommy Makeover

As a Christmas gift to myself, I decided to get "the works" when going in to get my hair "done". I was tired of always wearing it up and having little frizzies going every which way off the top of my head. "CRAZY HAIR" is what Myra called me. For good reason too ...

So, after a little color, some highlights, a trim/cut and style ...

Okay, so there's one little drawback ... I actually have to spend a little more time on my hair. After washing, there's blow drying (about 20 or minutes) and then flat ironing (about 45 minutes). Then there's the little bit of anti-frizz spray that has to be "applied evenly" (about 5 minutes - I have A LOT of hair). As opposed to the 20 minutes I used to spend on my hair .... It's well worth it. Crazy Hair has left the building!

So we FINALLY got around to posting some Xmas pics. We totally forgot to dig out the camera in Stroud, so you'll have to settle for the great pics over on the Cox's blog.

Video Test

| | Comments (0)

We've decided to catch up with the rest of the world and stop hosting videos on our blog. We take a lot of little short vids with our camera and we never seem to do anything with them. So, we've decided to just dump em online every once in a while to let everyone else enjoy them, too. Don't expect them to be fancy, but they are a lot of fun! I just uploaded a test video to GoogleVideo and I'm trying it out here. Let me know if it doesn't work for you. Here is Myra and Noah playing Ring Around the Rosie.

By the way, if you don't know anything about Google Video, if you click on the little button in the bottom right that says Google Video and then click on "Go to Google Video" you can see all of the clips we've uploaded so far.

Where Have We Been?

| | Comments (0)

Ok, so it's been a loooong time since we updated. Let me give you the rundown. Right at Christmas break, I got food poisoning and spent 4 days begging for my own death on the couch. I got to spend most of Christmas eve watching bad Christmas special reruns. You'd think being up that late, I'd have surely seen Santa, but that guy is SNEAKY. I didn't see hide nor hair of him. Somehow our presents made it down the chimney, though. Myra got a Barbie dollhouse and Noah got a big Tonka dump truck. The little man fills it up with all of his other cars and runs it up and down the hallway. It looks like a "Momma Truck."

Grandaddy and Mimi came down an spent some time with us before heading on to Shreveport to watch the Cowboys play in the Independence Bowl. Myra added to her growing stable of the 12 Dancing Princesses and Noah got a huge Lego firetruck that rivals his Tonka in size.

Next we drove up to Stroud (the Land of Milk and Honey as I like to call it). This year was a real treat because my brother Nate and his family was there for most of our visit. The kids had a blast riding the go-cart and jumping on the trampoline while us older folks had fun eating everything in sight. Papa took Myra out to the golf course with "those two other boys"--Brandon and Nate--and she drove the golf cart. She keeps asking me to take her golfing now. I don't think she understands the actual game. She thinks it is similar to NASCAR. Myra got a ginormous dollhouse from Granny and Papa and Noah got a Tonka Bulldozer to go with his dump truck. We also got a Christmas lawn ornament so massive that we had to leave it there! I think Papa is gonna bring it in his truck the next time they visit. Of course we had to run up to Bad Brad's where the BBQ Balogna was melt in your mouth good. Along that same vein, we decided to take a detour through Kreb's on the way home. We stopped at Pete's Place for some great Italian food. Even Myra liked it. Now we're sitting at home recovering. Chris has a ton of chores slated for me today, so I better get started. I plan on adding pics later today.
