Fire Chief Noah To The Rescue!<

| | Comments (1)

Noah is very "into" fire trucks these days. He's been telling everyone about his "fire truck birthday". However, instead of having an all out birthday party for Noah with all his friends, I called all the moms from our playgroup and invited them to join us on a tour of our local fire station. After all, a tour at the fire station means Mommy doesn't have to do the entertaining .. or clean up.

The kids had a blast looking and then climbing on all four trucks. They even enjoyed the small "gator" the had for football games and other events involving large crowds. I wish we had more pictures to share but unfortunately, most of our pictures were blurry from the kids moving around so much ... I know it's hard to sit still when there's just so much to see. Okay, there was that and the fact that Mommy and Daddy didn't prepare very well ... our battery died. We'll just have to make sure to do better at Noah's party and then again when we visit the Denver Firefighters' Museum in a couple weeks.

How to Make a Little Girl's Day<

We had two weddings this weekend so I was out and about in my fancy black duds and uncomfortable shoes for a long time. It wasn't all for naught though because I happened to run into two of Myra's favorite people so I asked them to send her a little message. First is her kindergarten teacher followed by her principal. When I first showed them to Myra, her eyes lit up. She couldn't believe that they would send a message to HER!

I also just had to post this one funny video cap I got from the first wedding. This groom was very young and he seemed a little nervous. Once he walked out there he got the deer in the headlights look that was only broken by a few furtive glances toward the exit. I was ready for him to bolt for the door at any moment, but he stuck it out and attached that ball and chain. Good Work!

"Mommy, that's yucky!"<

Today while responding to a few emails, I heard Noah yelling from the back of the house ...

"Mommy, that's yucky! ... MOMMY, that's yucky! ... MOM-MY,THAT'S YUCK-Y!!!"

I was scared to go look for fear that he had spilled something. As a result, I wasn't in any hurry. After making the long, slow walk down the hall, I realize he's sitting on the potty. He looked up at me and again said "Mommy, that's yucky" pointing inside the bowl.

He's been doing very well about putting his "pee pee" in the potty ... when I let him run around naked that is. When it comes time for "poo poo", on the other hand, he'll throw a screaming fit for some pants. I was curious as to why all the sudden putting pee pee in the potty was "yucky" ... after all, I had just disinfected the thing. Maybe it was still a bit wet. I was pleasantly surprised when he said "Look, Mommy. Yucky poo poo in the potty. That's yucky."

We're one step closer to having a diaper free house! YAY!

Dear Daddy,

Me and Mommy were making this for you.

Some of the things I like to do with my daddy ...
- help him with cleaning the bathroom
- playing games
- helping clean up and wash the dishes
- going out out to eat with him
- going treasure hunting
- going swimming

I love you. Happy Father's Day!

Love, Myra

Step Up to Shape Up<

Josh and I recently started doing low carb ... again. This time, however, I've decided to "take it up a notch". Monday I enjoyed my first day of aerobics! (Classes are every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings.) I definitely think it's something I can stick with.

Monday, we did step aerobics for about 30 minutes, then worked on toning the arms for 15min and finally abs for 15. I used the 3 pound weights to get started when toning our arms, not wanting to overdo it on the first day. They didn't seem to do anything for me. Maybe it's because I carry around a 40+ pound little boy everyday. Overall, I kept up better than I thought I would, only taking "breaks" to figure out what the heck we were doing.

Tuesday, when I arrived, all the "regulars" were complaining about how they "hated" Tuesdays. I admit, that kinda scared me but it didn't send me running out the door. We skipped the step aerobics this time and hit the floor. Jumping jacks (100 of them), lunges (4 to 5 times across the room ... about 60 altogether) and leg lifts (about 55 on each side) were just a few of the leg toning exercises everyone just loved doing for 45 minutes. For the last 15 minutes of class ... back to working on those abs.

Thursday was pretty much a repeat of Tuesday. However, this time we got homework ... do at least 15 minutes (the instructor preferred 30) of abs and walk, even if it's marching in place, for at least one hour at home over the weekend. I think I can handle that. Especially since one little girl has been asking "Can you teach me a new exercise?" Unfortunately, she doesn't last nearly as long as my classmates.

If you know anything about Myra ... it must be an attention span problem because she's no where near being low on energy.

Potty Progress Report<

Noah's been in and out of the potty training mood. Tonight, however, I think we made a leap in the right direction.

Noah's a little red so we've been letting him "air out". Before leaving the room to help Myra with a game on my laptop, I told him "You tell Mommy or Daddy if you need to go potty. Okay? NO pee pees on the floor. Okay?" Noah confirmed that he understood both directions so I went on my way. A couple minutes later, I heard the chiming of the potty (Noah's potty plays music). I quickly made my way to the living room to find Noah sitting there on the potty! He placed himself on the potty ... during Go Diego Go even!

I guess this means we'll be taking the potty with us to Oklahoma tomorrow. Can't take any breaks now. We're on a roll ... I hope.

You Don't Know Me!<

I think everyone had the same idea about swimming today. It was hot so the pool was very busy. Kids were everywhere! After one boy quickly swam by Myra, she tattled ... I mean said ...

"Mommy, that boy splashed me and he doesn't even know my name!"

I didn't know you needed to know someone's name to accidentally splash them ... I guess I do now.

My Little Chatter<

Today I was surfing the net in the office and I thought Chris was on her laptop in the dining room. I found a cool link so I sent it to her. Right then, she walks into the office. I showed her the pics of the cool alien thing I had just found and suddenly, I get an instant message back from her computer. It was so well spelled I thought Ricky or Anna had snuck in the house and helped her. I went into the dining room and sure enough, it was just Myra and Noah playing with the laptop. I went back to the office and messaged her back and then added a couple of sentences that I knew she could read. Her response really made me laugh.

In case you don't read Kindergarten, it says, "Daddy I am busy, in the middle of a game."
