It's official! Noah is no longer a Terrible Two! This last week, I've decided that he's not quite a Terrific Three yet. He's been a bit argumentative and cranky, but yesterday in the pool, he did do the sweetest thing. Myra and a couple of her friends were rough-housing with me and they kept grabbing my feet and dunking me. Finally, I had enough so I went over and sat on the steps near Chris and Noah. The girls couldn't let this sleeping dog lie and they attacked me again. I told them I was "taking a break." They attacked anyway. Noah comes to the rescue splashing them and yelling, "No! No! He Taking Break! He Taking Break!" My little man to the rescue. --Tangent Over
Back to what I was supposed to be writing about: Noah's Third Birthday. In case you didn't know, he's really into fire trucks right now. Of course, we were up in Fireworks-land (Granny and Papa's House) and we had all the usual suspects there. Grandaddy and Mimi made the trip down from Stillwater with Rachel and J.J. The Cox family was there in full force as well as the Godes. Papa grilled ribs and hot dogs while Granny made some delicious homemade strawberry ice cream. After dinner, Noah, blew out the candles on his super cool Fire Truck Cake.

He tore into his gifts with the help of the other kids. Anything with wheels on it was a big hit. His absolute favorite toy was a fire truck with a real ladder that made siren sounds and lit up. He liked it so much, he slept with it that night. Next, it was pinata time! Chris found a cute pinata in the shape of...you guessed it, a fire truck. We cycled through all the kids hitting the thing more than once and finally Kennedy knocked a wheel off and Myra finished the job. The kids started the feeding frenzy on the candy.

We all headed inside for a little rest and cool air, but the party wasn't over yet! We gathered all the kids outside just in time to see a REAL LIVE FIRE TRUCK come rolling down the drive! Sarah's fiance had managed to get Stroud FD's prettiest red truck to swing by for a visit! Noah squeeled with delight when he saw that truck round the corner and he didn't stop smiling the whole time it was there. the kids had a blast crawling up on the truck and sitting in the driver's seat. The best part was honking the horn! Soon it was time to take the truck back to the station and guess who got to help? Me...oh yeah, and Noah too. He didn't say a word the whole time we drove it back to town, but his eyes were wide with excitement. He was just taking it all in.

Later that night, we all headed to Foster Park in the middle of Stroud to watch the Fire Department put on a very cool fireworks display. I've seen bigger and longer shows in other cities, but for my money, Stroud's is still the best. The whole atmosphere of being down in the park as families set off their own fireworks while they wait for the show is just great. Small town life definitely has its perks. After the big display, we all headed home for a well deserved rest. Like Christina said earlier, this birthday will be hard to top!
