End In Sight? (Part II)<

| | Comments (1)

Noah had a pretty bad allergy attack after getting home from Oklahoma.  As a result, we've rescheduled his surgery for May 8th.  I've done some research on the web and received a ... note? ... from the doctor with information on how to care for the "patient" before and after surgery.  Honestly, I thought the more I read up on it, the better I'd feel.  It's the complete opposite!  The more I read up on it, the more nervous I get.  All these things that could go wrong.  All the unknown.  All the "what ifs".

I'm going to set up a tour of the hospital for sometime this week.  I'm hoping that will help ease my nerves.  I'm sure he'll be fine and that it's just the mother in me coming though.  Lots of kids have had this surgery and they're all fine.  Did I mention I'm nervous?

Viva La French Bread<

The other night, we ate at Zio's, we had some of their French bread dipped into the mixed herbs and olive oil.  Today, I decided to try and make some bread so we could have some of that home.  During the cooking process, I had to call and ask Mom for some advice, so I thought I'd show her how it turned out.  I followed this recipe from Suite101.com (first one that popped up on Google).  The only change was substituting olive oil for shortning.  It takes FOREVER, but the results were worth it.  Chris had some dipping spice from Pampered Chef that was pretty good.  Not as good as Zio's, but still tasty.  Click the pic for a treat for your eyes!

It's In the Bag<

Next weekend, I'm going with some friends on a campout/mountain bike ride to Caprock Canyon State Park.  Over Spring Break, Chris and I slept out in the tent at Granny and Papa's house and I found out that I'm too big a wimp to just sleep on the cold, hard ground.  Yesterday, we went to Academy and found a twin inflatable camping mattress (and pump) for me to take on the trip.  It was kind of bulky so Chris and her magic sewing machine swung into action.  Using scrap material and an old shoelace off of one of my shoes, she put together a really cool bag for my bed and pump!  I'm really impressed because it looks cool, works well, and only took her like 30 minutes to make!  Here are some pics for you:

An End In Sight?<

Doctor trip after doctor trip, Noah's been sent home with the diagnosis of him having "allergies".  We've done Claritin.  We've done Zyrtec.  We're now doing Nazonex ... and Omnicef (antibiotic) and some other Rx Antihistamine/Decongestant.

We've dealt with loud snoring at night.  We've dealt with him breathing loud through his mouth during the day.  We've dealt "bad" behavior in the mornings (lack of sleep).  We've dealt with falling asleep at strange times.  (He would actually put himself to bed and we wouldn't know it!)  So, after talking it over with my mom and reading an article she had sent, it was back to the doctor for ....  possible sleep apnea.  After speaking to the doctor, it was off to another doctor to check his ... yep, allergies.  (His tonsils were slightly swollen but "they could be just irritated by allergies".)

We had our appointment with the ENT this poast Tuesday.  The doctor looked in his mouth and said "Oh yeah, those need to come out for sure."  No x-rays needed.  With a quick look up the nose and a little question and answer session it was decided that his adenoids needed to come out too.

His surgery is set for May 22 however we're trying reschedule it for an earlier date.  We'll keep you updated.

A couple of weeks ago, we were driving down a hilly little backroad near our house.  We went over a little hill pretty fast and it made me lose my stomach a bit.  Apparently, Noah felt it, too because he exclaimed, "Whoa!  That tickled my wee-wee!"  We all laughed and forgot about it.  Noah did not.  A couple of days ago, we were driving over a backroad in Stillwater and Noah suddenly says, "Everybody hold on to your wee-wees because here comes a BIG HILL!"

Deadly Chase In Davisville, TX<

Tragic ending for some chives in Davisville, TX this morning. While putting up the kitchen gates, the two suspects, believed to be 23-month-old Andrew Dawson and 20-month-old Jacob Tucker, snuck in through the back and each grabbed a pot of herbs. When apprehended, one suspect placed the pot on the floor while the other threw his at law enforcement. The victims names have not been released but we are told that there are a multiple number of chives.  They were pronounced dead on the scene by the official. Both suspects were arrested and placed in time out. They were later released on good behaviour.

In other news,

The Eureka SmartVac (aka "The Boss") receives the highest rating from Christina Reports.

Note to self:  Gates go up BEFORE the boys come in from here on out.

Myra's third soccer game was a big success.  Her team won 3-0 and she played really well.  She got an assist when her shot at the goal got helped along by Michael.  If he hadn't kicked it, I think she would have scored it on her own.  She also played GREAT defense.  She is getting so much better at being aggressive when the ball is bearing down on her.  The sprinklers came on during the game and forced us to move to another field.  As soon as we got there, the sprinklers went off and we returned.  The field next to us had sprinklers going as well, meaning that the crowd was getting "watered."  We ended up sitting in the endzone for half the game.  The club that owns the field is not winning any fans from our team.  Anyway, we added some pics to Flickr so you should check them out.  Here's a couple of our favorites:

Back from Camp<

Another year of Camp Goddard is in the books and it was GREAT!  The weather was cold and windy most of the time but that didn't matter too much.  The kids had a great time and so did us teachers.  I'm all camped out right now, but I think I'll be chomping at the bit to head back out to Scout Camp in June.  Here's a pic of me enjoying teaching on the trail:
