Waving My Flag

October 17th, 2009 at 18:22

It’s been a while since you’ve had to put up with a geeky post, so here you go!  Last spring I got an Arduino to play around with.  It’s a neat little microcontroller that you can create all sorts of cool electronics projects with.  See what I mean?  Life got in the way and I put it aside for a few months.  I picked it up yesterday and began working on learning some of its tricks.  Today I made an email checker flag.  What is that?  Well, it’s a little flag that raises any time you get a new email.  I modified some code from this guy’s project and slapped on an old servo from Ricky.  Here it is in action!

Yes, I know I’m a dork, but I’m one of the cooler dorks.  I put a couple more pics on Flickr.

Hey Josh – glad to see you got it working! Just in case you don’t already have a full day with your work and your family – that arduino will definitely keep you busy! Have fun playing, and don’t worry about the dork factor. Dorks live in their parent’s basements. Geeks ARE the parents!

That’s cool!!! If it weren’t for dorks (geeks, nerd, etc) like us (I’m a fellow NerdKit owner) we would still be looking up to the sky to tell time!!!
