Quiet Breakfast<

| | Comments (0)

We got so used to having a hot breakfast over Thanksgiving that Christina and I have been trying something new. I've been getting up with Noah at night and in return, we've been getting up a little earlier than usual so that Chris can cook breakfast while I get ready for work. Then we get to sit down and have a nice quiet meal together without any "little distractions". It is great! I love the peace and lacksidaisical pace is really relaxing, plus I get to spend more quality time with the love of my life. Everyone should try this. The only drawback is the loss of sleep. It's really beating me down right now as I write this, but I'm sure it will go away as we get used to it (and begin going to bed earlier).

A Visit to the Waterpark<

Last summer, for Ethan's birthday, we all went to a park in Allen that had a really cool little waterpark inside it. All the kids spent the afternoon playing in the various sprinklers while the adults relaxed and ate cake. Brenda Kao took a ton of great pictures of Myra and the other kiddos while they played in the water. I've included some of them in a new album over in the Photo Album section of the site. Here's a little sneak peek at one:

The Weekend is Coming! The Weekend is Coming!<

It’s almost here and I sure am glad. We’ve got big plans for our one week vacation. Tomorrow is Sydney’s birthday party and Myra is PUMPED. Sydney is one of the little girls from Debbie’s house. We got her a Care Bear Cousin. I think Myra is finally getting past the stage where she thinks every present we buy is for her. Although, last night she kept telling me that it’s almost time for her birthday. It will be a lot of fun getting all the little girls from Debbie’s back together. We’re definitely taking the camera to this one.

After the party, we’re jumping right into the car and heading for Center, Texas. No, not the center of Texas. We’re heading for Stueverland WAY out there in east Texas, where they’ve decided that they’re gonna call it Center even if it’s nowhere near the center of ANYTHING. Anyway, we’re going to hook up with the Stuevers and hopefully the Kaos for some good old-fashioned family entertainment: Football! This weekend Greg and I are playing for inter-web braggin’ rights and it’s going to be a lot of fun talking smack to him as my beloved Squatch squish his puny little All-stars. Oh, and I’m sure the kids will have fun playing together, too. I’ll provide a full report (with pictures, of course) next week!

Brushing Your Teeth is FUN!<

|

I used to hate brushing my teeth, but now I've got a little helper that makes it a lot more fun. Every night, before she goes to bed, Myra asks me to brush my teeth with her. She's an excellent partner for that, too. She gets up on her step and pulls out my toothbrush and gets it wet for me. Then she lets me put on the toothpaste (thank God) and then we do the same to her old beat-up Winnie the Pooh brush. This thing has definitely seen better days. It looks like it's been through a war--attached to a tank tread--but it still holds up. The first thing Myra does is eat her toothpaste (this stuff tastes like candy) and then she mimics me as I brush all around. Finally, I spit in the sink and she tries her hardest, but since she's already swallowed all the toothpaste, she can never manage a drop. She then spends the next 5 minutes rinsing her brush clean while singing whatever comes to mind. The Spongebob Squarepants theme song is a favorite, mainly because it involves a bunch of yelling. I'm telling you, dental hygiene has never sounded so good!

What the Internet Needs is Another Blog!<

Thank goodness for the Godes! Now there is one more blog out there on the web. Ricky has been working extra hard on his blog (meaning he said, "Josh, please, please, please set me up one of those interweb logger thingies!") and he's finally ready to show it off to the world. Check out the links section to take a peek.

In other news, things look a little different, don't they? I've been hard at work trying to put together a snazzy new theme for the blog. I want it to look muted and kind of faded. Mostly, I want the pictures and writing to stand out more. Of course, there is also the added incentive of not looking like the Gode Blog. I plan on continually expanding the blog with EVEN MORE handy-dandy features as well as rounding out the theme with some custom graphics and such.

Changes<

Well, looks like I might regret showing Chris how to post pictures! I guess I can live with a few bad pics circulating the internet since there are SOOO many more good ones out there!

Today is only in the 50's and it is WINDY! Makes me feel like I'm back in Oklahoma. I'm glad that some fall weather is finally making it down to us. I thought it would never get here this year. Yesterday, at Wal-Mart, Myra needed a coat and she was just heartbroken when we wouldn't let her get this cute little pink "Dora" coat. Unfortunately, it was a little too heavy. It was the kind of coat you go building snowmen in. Here in Texas, she'd only get to wear that coat 2 days a year. Of course, she promptly forgot about it when we showed her a purple one. Speaking of clothes, she has these two sweatsuits, one pink and one blue (one is pictured below) and she loves to wear them. She tells me she is a "pink princess coach" and she walks around the house blowing a whistle while yelling "Time out!" I'm sure that one day the Royal Family is going to give her a job at Buckingham Palace. I hope they let us live in the guest house.

Noah is Becoming a Rolling Machine!<

|

Chris and the kids came up and brought me lunch today at work. It was a lot of fun. Myra spilled her Sprite all over the floor and kept wigging out about the "thunder" she kept hearing (it was doors closing in other parts of the building) but she had fun anyway. While Chris took Myra on her Traditional Potty Run, Noah and I practiced rolling over. He's getting better and better at it. He just needs to learn to pull that one arm out of the way. He rolled over back to front for the first time last night. He just HAD to see what was on TV and was facing the wrong way. He's my little couch potato in training.
