If you happened to pick up a Stillwater News Press back on December 14th, 1981, then you are in luck.  Inside of that hard-hitting issue was an article featuring none other than Christy Iorns!  She won't let me call her Christy, but back then, it didn't seem to bother her much.  You can read the article below:
Chris' Bazaar Story
Click on the pics to enlarge them. In the first one, she's got her eye on some fancy, sweet smelling soap as a Christmas present for her mom. In the second, she's made up her mind and is forking over the cash!

Today is Granddaddy's 58th birthday. While he's out winning big so he can buy his baby girl ... I mean ... his grand-babies a new Ford Expedition XLT (the one with the third row seats), I'm posting this ....

Can you guess who it is? Here's a hint:

Halloween 1983 - Boo was an ... apple? I was a magical fairy. Now I can see where Myra gets her love for the colors pink and blue.

I like this one too!

Halloween 1984 - Boo looks like a yellow squash here. I was a Rainbow Bright Cheerleader Girl ... Don't ask.

I obviously got better with age but "Boo" ... What happened, Little Brother?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY UNCLE BOO BOO! WE LOVE YOU!

Advice To The Bride

| | Comments (0)

Today it is very cold, wet and windy outside. Myra decided that since we're not going anywhere, we should have "creative time". She, of course. would be the instructor. So we gathered up some colorful paper and letter stickers. Now all we needed was a picture to place on our project. Myra wanted one of her baby pictures so I pulled a couple photo boxes down from out of the closet. While digging through all the incredibly cute photos of one of the most beautiful baby girls in the whole wide world, I came across some index cards.

These index cards held advice given to a soon-to-be bride (me) by the wonderful ladies at Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church during a bridal shower. I thought it might be fun to share some of that advice here from "The Shoebox" ...

You have the serious....
- You both have to give 100%. It's not 50/50; it's 100/100. (Roberta)
- Passion will come and go in your life, but always be each others best friend.
- Enjoy and LOVE each other. (Shawn)

You have the funny...
- If you want to eat out, say "I was thinking we could have chicken pot pie tonight for dinner."
- Never tell embarrassing things about your husband if he can hear or find out.
- Don't take anything or everything your in-laws say or do too seriously. Also, don't let our sheer numbers overwhelm you. (Bernadette)

And then you have the ever popular ...
- Never go to bed angry. Kiss and make up. (Jacque)
- The toilet seat belongs DOWN. (DooDoo)

Thank you, everyone, for the advice!

A thumbnail just wouldn't do this picture justice so I blew it up. Isn't he cute? Now we know where Noah gets all his good looks. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY! WE LOVE YOU!

Just Bust A Move!

So, Josh already mentioned the fun we had looking (and laughing) at old photos with our parents over Spring Break. He posted his favorite picture so, of course, I had to post mine. This is one of Granddaddy and GranGran showing us the hottest moves of 1972. Aren't they cute? I hope Josh and I have the same amount of energy when we get to be 60.

Ahhh, the Good Old Days

davisfamily1979.jpg

While we were in Oklahoma, we had a chance to go through a lot of pictures at both the Davis and Irons houses. I just thought I'd show off one of my favorites. This picture is of the Davis family sometime around 1979 or 80. It's in the old house, so I must have been around 2 or 3. Quite a few things jumped out at me and the memories flooded back as I studied this photo.

Nate looks so different in this picture. There are a ton of him as a baby, but very few of him in this in-between age.

It looks like Angie is cheesing in Mom's rocking chair, which rocked Davis babies to sleep for probably 20 years.
It made the most comforting creaking noises as it rocked.

I'm in the background holding a balloon looking a little like Noah with longer hair. Right behind me is a red Tonka pickup truck that I remember solely because of its untimely demise. Someone left it in the driveway and either mom or dad backed right over the top of it. It was pretty dented up, but I've seen real cars that have looked worse after minor fender-benders. Tonka made TOUGH trucks back then.

Sarah is cute as a button in her green dress and chubby cheeks. It's easy to see Kenzie in her.

Anna looks a little ticked off, which is too bad because everyone else seems to be in such a good mood. We must be teasing her about being the "Cheese that stands alone" or being the daughter of Flookie.

Dad has an amusing look on his face, but to tell you the truth, I can't stop staring at those pants he's wearing. There is only one word for them: plaid-tastic.

I remember disliking having so many siblings when I was younger, but over time I came to really appreciate them all. I now feel sorry for people who didn't have enormous families growing up because I feel like they missed out. All in all this photo is a great glimpse into our family life from a period that I can just barely remember. Does anybody else have any insight on this picture?

Ghosts of President's Day Past

| | Comments (0)

I was cleaning out some folders and I ran across some pictures called
"President's Day" that were a real stroll down memory lane. They must
have been taken last February when I had a day off and we spent some
quality time goofing off and hanging at the park. Sometime in the
future, when Noah and Myra are having a knock-down drag-out over who's
turn it is to use the phone, I'm sure we'll look back at these pictures
and long for these days. I kinda already do.

I was digging around on the computer and I ran across some pics from about a year and a half ago. This one really grabbed my eye. She looks so cool and confident.

Myra's First Boyfriend?

| | Comments (0)

Here's one of Miss "I'm Four" (what she tells everyone whether or not they ask) and Mr Jaden Taylor Higgs. Jaden's mom and I have been friends since junior high. Myra is about 5 months old in this picture which makes Jaden about 7 months old. I still think it looks like he is trying to bite her head off. I was assured by Elizabeth, though, that he was just giving kisses. Yes, we do start our kids early, learning all the important things in life: beer making, kissing, etc.
